Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. is voluntarily recalling two of its products in 15 states due to a possible E.coli contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The FDA announced on Tuesday the company is recalling its three-pack of Dole Romaine Hearts, as well as its Wild Harvest Romaine Hearts, harvested between Oct. 23 and Oct. 26. The UPC numbers on the products are 0-71430-90061-1 and 7-11535-50201-2, respectively.
The recall affects romaine distributed in Arizona, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota and Virginia.
“No illnesses have been reported to date in association with the recall,” according to the FDA.
The products should no longer be in stores, since the lettuce products were harvested and packed over four weeks ago.
E. coli symptoms can include abdominal cramps, nausea, fatigue and diarrhea, and some people can develop a form of kidney failure.
The FDA said consumers should discard products with the UPC numbers mentioned above.
Earlier this month, Tanimura & Antle Inc. also recalled single heads of romaine lettuce distributed across the country for possible E. coli contamination.
