Doktoberfest: New 35,000 sq ft beer hall opening in London’s Docklands

London’s Oktoberfest celebrations are bigger than ever in 2019, with a new 35,000 sq ft beer hall opening in Docklands next month.

The new space is expecting to welcome more than 20,000 visitors for the boozy celebrations, which would make it one of the most popular Oktoberfest events in the capital.

Organisers are spending £500k to convert an old warehouse by Canada Water station into a Baravian beer hall, accommodating around 1,500 people a night. Events will take place throughout October and November, beginning on October 10 and ending on November 16.

Guests are encouraged to pull on their lederhosen and dirndl for nights of live music, oompah bands, DJ sets and circus performers. There’ll also be themed events taking place as part of the run, with Pink Oktoberfest and Halloween celebrations due to take place.

Oktoberfest is synonymous with steins, sausages and schnitzel, but Doktoberfest is set to feature a most diverse food offering: as well as traditional, meaty German grub, there’ll be vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten free options, including pizza from The Slice is Right and waffles from Würzburg Waffles.

Tickets for Doktoberfest are priced from £10.50 and can be booked here.

It's the most recent Oktoberfest news in the capital, since it was previously announced that the Electric Ballroom will host Camden’s official Oktoberfest.
