Dancing On Ice professional skater Carlotta Edwards is upset that she has accused of being jealous of her alleged love rival Maura Higgins.
The 30-year-old Canadian ice skater has been married to 29-year-old British ice skater Alex Demetriou since 2018 until their abrupt split earlier this year.
The break-up came after Alex was partnered with 29-year-old Love Island star Maura for the 2020 series of Dancing On Ice and following weeks of speculation that the pair had grown close – accusations that both Alex and Marua have repeatedly denied.
Now Carlotta is said to be angered after Alex gave an interview last week in which he blamed jealousy on behalf of his soon-to-be-ex-wife for the meltdown of the marriage.
A source close to the Canadian beauty told The Sun on Sunday: “Carlotta is devastated and hurting from her split with Alex.
“She’s upset by his accusations of jealousy and doesn’t believe he didn’t have romantic feelings for Maura.”
The source hints there could be a completely different story to the one that has been played out in headlines in recent months.
They said: “As far as she’s concerned they were happy, then she came on the scene and their marriage fell apart.”
Last week, Alex suggested that jealousy was to blame for the collapse of his marriage.
He said: “I think Carlotta found it hard to see me close, yet so professional, with Maura. It had an impact on her.
“I told Carlotta we needed a break but I knew it was for good. I didn’t want to lead her on any more.
“She was shocked at how serious it was. I’m not going to lie — it was my decision. Clearly she was very upset.”
He also went on to suggest a conflict of future plans was the final nail in the coffin of their relationship as Carlotta dreamed of spending time working on cruise ships, while he claimed he envisaged a future settling down in England.
