Dogs poisoned at Bristol beauty spot after eating hidden pink pellets

A Bristol woman has issued a warning after her two dogs were poisoned at a local beauty spot.

Katie says her dogs Jeff and Winnie swallowed pink pellets 'deliberately hidden' at Magpie Bottom Nature Reserve in Hanham. Katie says she was walking her two dogs yesterday evening (March 21) when she noticed them eating something suspicious.

She says the 'pink pellets' looked like they were deliberately hidden and covered over. Luckily Jeff and Winnie were treated immediately at the vets and are now "doing okay."

Katie says she collected all the pink pellets she could see but is "certain there will be more."

Posting on a local Facebook group, she said: "I have some distressing news - my dogs were poisoned today in the woods at Magpie Bottom Nature Reserve. I was walking them this evening in the wooded area, and noticed them both eating something. Then I noticed they were bright pink pellets.

"Both dogs ok, they have been treated by vets. However, the pink pellets looked like they were deliberately hidden in piles and then covered over. They are very close to where I know there are badger sets.

"I took the pink pellets I could see, but I'm certain there will be more. Vets confirmed the pellets were poison. Hopefully has been caught in time for my dogs and it's all out of their system."

Katie told BristolLive her dogs were given a drug last night to "bring everything up" and had to be fed charcoal multiple times. "They have blood tests booked in for later this week to confirm they're okay," she said.

The incident has been reported to Avon and Somerset Police.
