Dogs play in the snow in Manchester on the hottest day of summer - it's BEYOND CUTE

It's been an uncomfortable few days for our four legged friends, with temperatures soaring to 33C in Greater Manchester.

While some owners struggled to cool down their panting pooches, 150 dogs managed seek some respite from the scorching sun and chilled in the snow.

Bosses at the UK's longest snow slope opened their doors for a special event for canines after heatwave warnings were issued by the RSPCA.

Although Brits have been eagerly anticipating the sun after weeks of bleak weather, it's a concerning time for those with dogs, as they want to ensure that they don't overheat.

The RSCPA recently raised concerns over dogs being left in cars and issued advice on how to check if it's too hot to take pooches on walks.

But yesterday's fun saw the worries disappear as playful pooches were treated to fun in real snow at the Chill Factore in Trafford.

And it was all for a good cause as guests to the slope made a £5 donation to Manchester and Cheshire Dogs' Home for every dog that attended.

Explaining why dogs need to keep cool on hot days, Steve Mapley, home manager from the charity, said: "Unlike humans, dogs can’t sweat through their skin, so they rely on panting and releasing heat through their paws and pads.

"Once a dog shows signs of heatstroke the damage is already done so it’s important to prevent this and keep them cool."

The centre is kept at a cool -3 to -5 degrees - a stark contrast to the outdoor heat we are facing this week.

The CEO of the centre, who is a dog owner, Morwenna Angove, said: "We were pleased to be able to offer a cool haven for our four-legged friends in and around Manchester.

"Quite often a pet is also considered part of the family, so by opening Chill Factor to dogs too, we provided a destination that really did welcome every member of the family."
