Dogs have their day as Blue and Luca help revenue with TWO major drug hauls at Dublin Airport

Two detective dogs had a massive part to play in major drug hauls at Dublin Airport at the start of June.

Revenue officers seized a consignment of drugs and cash in two huge clampdown operations in the capital thanks to Luca and Blue.

On June 8, Revenue officers alongside their furry friend Blue seized four packages containing over 2.2kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €45,200.

The illegal drugs arrived from Italy and were destined for an address in Kilkenny.

Six days earlier on 2 June, Luca and Co. discovered 455 grams of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €9,000.

The illegal drugs originated in the USA and were heading for Ballyboden.

A spokeswoman for Revenue told Dublin Live: "These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting the illegal importation of drugs and shadow economy activity.

"If businesses, or members of the public, have any information, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
