Dogs cruise down Glasgow canal on paddle boards as temperatures soar

A pair of Glasgow dog owners have taken full advantage of the warm weather and lockdown easing - by going paddle boarding with their pooches.

With the temperature in Scotland rivaling those of the Costa del Sol and French Riviera in recent days it is no wonder Scots have been keen to make the most of things.

Some have really taken the lead, with one couple seen cruising with their pets down Glasgow 's Forth and Clyde Canal in Maryhill.

The adventurous paddle boarders were captured on film by an astonished passerby who shared the sighting on Twitter, labelling their videos 'Costa Del Maryhill' and 'Riviera'.

The quiet scene is a long way away from residents in Loch Lomond who said they were forced to retreat indoors after huge crowds flouted guidelines to travel miles and bask in sunshine.

It comes after management at the national park urged the public to stay away from the area because visitor facilities remained closed.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has warned she’d reintroduce controls amid fears of a second spike in deaths if the country did not stick to the dos and don’ts of the first phase out of lockdown.
