Dogs are still being taken out for walks during Storm Ciara, although they do not look happy about it.
Some pooches are struggling to deal with the breezy conditions, with dog walkers sharing hilarious pictures of their windswept pets.
One photograph taken on the seafront in Southend-on-Sea shows a messy-haired terrier battling to stay on all fours amid 75mph gusts.
Other pictures shows dogs wrapped up in raincoats, hiding in phone booths and closing their eyes as they face the full onslaught of the storm.
Ciara - the third named storm of the season - has been wreaking havoc all day across Britain, with hundreds of flood warnings and alerts issued.
Homes and businesses have been damaged and travel has been severely disrupted.
Flooding has occurred in a number of cities and towns, train and ferry services have been cancelled and flights have been grounded and delayed.
Three people were injured after part of a pub roof collapsed in Perth on Saturday evening and Bedfordshire police said emergency services were called to Flitwick on Sunday after a tree fell onto a car.
The hammering gale-force winds of Storm Ciara were on fully display in a southern seaside town, where they were causing a huge crane to spin around.
A yellow crane at a building site in Worthing, West Sussex was seen rotating freely in the wind as 41mph gusts battered the south coast.
Normally a solid presence high above a 141-home development on the seafront, Sunday's storm has turned the crane into a spinning top.
Sussex Police said they had received several reports about the whirling crane but confirmed there is no cause for concern as it is designed to move with the wind.
The force said on Twitter: "Sussex Police have had a number of reports about the crane on Brighton Road Worthing turning in the high winds.
"Sussex Police have been in contact with the developers and the crane's safety mechanism is designed to let it move in the wind."
Further down the coast a handful of residents were seen gathering on Worthing Pier to experience the force of the storm and watch the crashing waves.
A 50ft tree has been ripped from the ground and smashed across two cars after Storm Ciara's hurricane force winds pulled it from its roots in London's Notting Hill.
A Mini and a Citroen were damaged by the accident.
Eyewitness Daniel Parker, 54, said: "I actually live in North London but a tenant had locked herself out of her property so I came round with an extra key.
"When I first saw it I just thought it looked a bit crazy.
"The residents who had the tree on their forecourt had actually cemented around it which is thought to have killed the roots.
"But for the wind to actually pull it from the ground is pretty remarkable.
"Thankfully nobody was hurt."
Storm Ciara - which has been dubbed the country's 'worst storm in seven years' - has brought heavy rain and winds of more than 80 miles per hour across the UK causing widespread disruption.
