Doggy day out! Adventurous dog takes the train from Sallins, Kildare to Dublin on his OWN

Irish Rail have issued an appeal for the owner of an adventurous dog who boarded 08:46 Sallins to Heuston train to come forward.

The audacious black and brown canine made the paw-sitively ambitious two-hour trek this morning, and is now being looked after by the staff at the station.

Amazed Twitter-users replied to Irish Rail's tweet, with one saying: "Sorry Irish Rail I don’t know who owns him but he really made my day."

Another was concerned that the pup might be a bit afraid, saying: "Ahhh, he looks a bit worried."

Shortly after 11am, Irish Rail issued an update tweet reassuring the public that the pup was safe, and that he is now asleep at the station.

They said: "Our Lost Dog is sleeping soundly in Heuston right now but we're still hoping to reunite him with his owner. Please RT"

If you own this wandering woofer - or think you might know the person who does - be sure to get in contact with Iarnród Éireann as soon as possible!

We're not sure if he's got a bit of Jack Russell in him, but he's certainly not a all-aboarder collie!

Either way, we hope the cute little commuter is reunited with his owner very soon.
