Dog ‘who thinks he’s F1 car’ escapes onto track to interrupt Turkish GP qualifying

Amid the rain of the Turkish Grand Prix practice session, one good boy did enjoy himself as a dog escaped onto the track for a little runaround.

A number of drivers lost control in the wet conditions, with McLaren's Carlos Sainz and Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi narrowly avoiding big crashes.

Lewis Hamilton, who can secure his record-equalling title on Sunday, described the rain-hit track as "as close to driving on ice as you can get".

This was of no concern to one friendly face, who took full advantage of the break in action to stretch his legs.

The official F1 Twitter feed posted: "We have an unexpected guest on track!”

Adding: "Formula 1's very own lap dog.”

According to one fan account, spotting a dog is not the rarity you would expect: “Several dogs were also seen at the track yesterday. There are quite a few strays in the area."
