Dog walker scarred for life after cider can attack by Glasgow race hate thug

A racist thug who permanently scarred a dog walker after hitting her with a can of cider was jailed today for 19 months.

Lee Simmonds, 26, turned on Sharon Milligan in Glasgow’s Easterhouse on July 25 this year.

Miss Milligan was arguing with Simmonds mother before he intervened and threw the can.

Simmonds pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to Miss Milligan’s injury and permanent disfigurement.

He also admitted possession of a bladed item as well as acting in a threatening or abusive manner.

The court heard Simmonds mother and neighbours became involved in a verbal argument.

Miss Milligan, who was walking her dog, came across the argument and became involved.

Simmonds intervened to say: “It’s got nothing to do with you what’s going on here.”

Prosecutor Hannah Terrance said: “Simmonds threw a can of Kopparberg at Miss Milligan hitting her forehead and causing a wound.”

Police later received an anonymous call which led to the arrest of Simmonds, who had a blade, near the property.

He told officers: “I’m a n***** and I have pals that are dangerous” before making a further racist comment at a hospital.

Miss Milligan was taken to hospital meantime for treatment to her head.

Miss Terrance added: “The doctor advised that the wound will leave a permanent scar.”

Lawyer Phil McWilliams, defending, said: “He had been drinking, his judgement was impaired and he threw the can.

“He regrets that and it has caused him great upset - this wasn't a sober and calculated mind.”

Sheriff Joseph Platt told Simmonds, who has previous convictions for assaults, that the only appropriate sentence was custody.
