A couple say their lives were saved by a hero dog walker who managed to warn them their car was on fire moments before it burst into flames.
Maggie Worsfold Booth and her husband were driving their Mercedes in Leyland, Lancashire, on Saturday afternoon when a dog walker at the side of the road caught their attention.
After the couple stopped the man told them that, unbeknown to them, their car was on fire, Lancs Live reports
Within seconds of getting out of the car the fire took hold- and Maggie said the man saved their lives.
A photo shows a thick cloud of black smoke surrounding the vehicle they'd been sat in just moments earlier.
Posting on Facebook, in a bid to locate the kind stranger, she said: "We were in our car and it went on fire. A man walking his dogs flagged us down and told us the car was on fire. We didn't have a clue.
"If anyone knows who it was we would really like to thank him because he saved our lives today. We got out of the car and within seconds the car went up.
"We just want to thank him from the bottom of our hearts and the so many other people who helped us when we were there."
Maggie has since told LancsLive she has tracked down the man and thanked him.
Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the fire.
"At 12.43pm on December 18 one fire engine from Leyland attended a vehicle fire on Windsor Close, Leyland," a spokesperson said.
"The incident involved one vehicle that was well alight on the roadway when the crew arrived. Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. They were in attendance for approximately 50 minutes."
