Another of the thugs was described white, in his 40s and wearing dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and a lightweight shell coat.

The third man was believed to be in his 40s.

Enquiries have been ongoing and officers from Cheshire Police have appealed for any information that might assist the investigation.

Detective Constable Faye Taylor, of Runcorn CID, said: “While we continue with the investigation I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have seen these men or them attempting to rob the victim to come forward.

“If you recognise their description or have CCTV or dash cam footage of them entering and exiting the park that morning then please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should call Cheshire Constabulary on 101 quoting IML 1074602 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
