Residents found a large pile of "dangerous" needles and condoms while walking their dog in Swansea.
The residents, who wished to remain anonymous, described seeing hundreds of loose needles as well as opened condom packets in a popular walkway just off New Cut Road on Saturday evening.
"My partner took the dog out for a walk and at around 8pm he called me to say he'd found a pile of needles in the walkway on New Cut Road," said one of the residents.
"He didn't want to leave it there so I went along too. We called the police, but they said it was a council issue. They called the correct department of Swansea Council.
"There were hundreds of needles out of their packets as well as a number of condom packets - some opened. A few of the needles had broken off so it was very dangerous.
"We didn't know who to call at first so we stayed for over an hour. Lots of people walk down there every day, including families with children and it's not well lit."
She said that luckily the mess had been cleared by the time they checked the following morning.
Despite the nature of the mess, the resident said it was wasn't a shock because rubbish is commonly found in the area.
"To be honest, I'm not surprised by it. I've always lived in the Hafod area and we have a terrible issue with litter. I'm used to it.
"Bags and bags of rubbish have been dumped in the area and some have been there for years.
"This morning on the green near Neath Road and Aberdyberthi Street there was a fridge dumped."
