Lanarkshire dog walker attacked and pet booted in the face by stranger in field

A dog walker was beaten up when she confronted a man who booted her pet in the face.

The thug set about Jade McCabe as she exercised three dogs in a Lanarkshire field last week.

The 33-year-old told the Daily Record the man was in the company of a woman at the time, and claims he punched her on the face then kicked her when she fell to the ground.

Jade, from Larkhall, said she spotted the couple at the popular spot near the Radstone Hotel in the town at 1.30pm on Thursday, January 12.

She explained: "I was out walking my dog and two other dogs when I spotted a couple who I know have a reactive Rottweiler. I usually avoid them but they ended up nearby us and my dogs were off the lead.

"Before I knew it, two of my dogs had approached the couple and their dog. The man instantly kicked one of my dogs in the face. I called him out, but he denied it. Then he dropped his dog's lead and squared up to me."

And Jade said he laughed when she asked the man if he was going to hit a woman.

She added: "He punched me in the face and knocked my glasses off. I fell down and then he kicked me a few times while I was on the ground. The woman he was with just stood there and watched. I was in complete shock at how aggressive he became."

Jade, who boards exotic animals and walks dogs for a living, said the frenzied assault caused her to suffer a panic attack. She added: "I had a panic attack at home after speaking to the police about what happened."

Jade is now hopeful the power of social media can lead to the identity of the couple. She has issued a warning to other lone dog walkers to be aware of the man and also shared an image of his car - a red Ford Focus.

She said: "The man was about six feet, looking in his 30s/40s wearing a grey hat, dark jacket and trousers. The woman was wearing a light grey parka jacket with a furry hood and dark trousers. They have a long haired Rottweiler.

"There is a lot of traffic driving by so someone must have seen something. Any lone female dog walkers in Larkhall should be careful."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a 33-year-old woman being assaulted in the Swinhill area of Larkhall. Enquiries are ongoing."
