Dog trapped in mountain crevice 22ft deep finally saved in early hours

A pet dog that fell into 22-foot deep crevice on a mountain has been rescued after a heroic effort.

Reggie, the spaniel dog, became trapped when plunged into the gap shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, January 18, according to a friend of the owner.

Fire and Rescue services along with volunteers were called to the scene immediately but firefighters were unable to rescue the dog, despite assistance from cave rescuers.

During the rescue, food and drink was being sent to the dog. It was uncertain that the animal was receiving the packages due to his location being so difficult to pinpoint.

But a friend of the owner confirmed that Reggie was saved shortly before 1am on Thursday morning from a depth of 8.4 meters after the fire and rescue as well as the mountain rescue team had left.

The dog, which fell down a crevice at Llwynypia Mountain in the Clydach forest, is said to be reunited with his owner, according to Wales Online.

Owner Leah Davies, who regularly posted about the incident on social media after Reggie’s fall, shared the good news on Facebook.

“Reggie is Out!” she wrote.

“I can’t believe it and can’t thank everyone enough. The support and help has [been] absolutely amazing!”
