A professional dog trainer has recommended ten breeds for families with children to own.
Under the name of southenddogtraining1 on TikTok, he said Golden Retrievers are his top choice before adding: "Probably the friendliest, most sociable dog on the planet.
"Fantastic with children, very soft, very gentle, but is also active enough that you can go away on holidays, trips to the beach and so on.”

Going on to list other breeds that are "notoriously good with children", he said: "The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the Border Terrier, Greyhound, St Bernard, Newfoundland, Bernese Mountain Dog, Leonberger to name a few.”
He also suggested Boxers and Labradors, Birmingham Live reports. The trainer continued: “Make sure that you teach your children that dogs aren’t climbing frames and make sure you teach your children to leave the dogs alone when they are eating and sleeping.
"Teach your child to be respectful of the dog, teach your dog to be respectful of your child.”
In reply to the viral video, one TikTok user said: "I recommend [getting] a Golden Retriever to anyone getting a dog because I have one.” Another said: “100% Staffys, the nanny breed.” [sic]. A third said: "I have a Staffie, he is the most soft, loyal, trusting breed I've ever known." [sic].
