Dog thieves spotted in popular Scots park as police warn owners to be on alert

Cops have warned dog owners to be alert after men were seeing trying to steal pets from a Scots park.

Worried locals reported the two men attempting to steal the animals from Baxter Park in Dundee in the afternoon today.

Police say they are aware of the incident and are urging owners to stay vigilant.

Descriptions have been released of the suspects with cops urging anyone with information to come forward.

The first male is described as being tanned, short hair and wearing a black tracksuit, the 2nd male was wearing white chino’s, black hat and a black jacket.

A police spokeswoman added: "Any person who has seen these males are asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident PS-20210309-1872."

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a hike in prices for many dogs leading to fears of the animals being stolen.

Many puppy breeders also increased prices during the pandemic to cash in on people seeking furry company in lockdown.
