Dog The Bounty Hunter blames 'broken heart' for health emergency after Beth's death

Dog The Bounty Hunter has blamed his recent health emergency on a "broken heart" brought on by his wife's death three months ago.

The 66-year-old TV personality, whose real name is Duane Chapman, was rushed to a hospital in Colorado earlier this week.

Duane was devastated after Beth lost her battle with throat cancer over the summer and on Monday he was taken to hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Speaking to FOX31, the bounty hunter admitted he's struggled to adjust to life without Beth.

When asked about his chest pains, Duane said: "I think, basically, I had a broken heart. And of course, it's going to heal.

"It feels much better now. And I'm going through some psychological things right now too, so that doesn't help."

Duane had described the chest pains as 'like he had been on a three or four-mile run'.

Despite his thoughts on what caused the emergency, Duane said tests are still being done to ascertain what actually happened.

He continued: "There's something haywire or it's psychologically. I don't know.

"I guess things happen like that. I've never... I don't do drugs."

It is still unclear as to whether Duane will be called back to hospital to undergo heart surgery, as doctors continue to monitor the star.

Since Beth's death Duane threw himself into work and doubled his workload as well as committing himself to family life, which has taken its toll on his health.

Duane explained at the time: "As long as I stay bounty hunting. It’s the only thing that keeps my mind off how things are right now.

"I just have to keep working! Being alone is really bad."
