A dog that attacked a teenage boy in Beswick had escaped from a car which had been stolen by thieves.
Police were scrambled to Grey Mare Lane on Thursday morning to reports a person had been attacked by a dog.
Footage released by the M.E.N shows the moment armed police surrounded and detained the dog.
It is understood that the car had been stolen and abandoned on the street - where it was left 'insecure.'
The dog is then thought to have escaped from one of the windows and on to the street.
It is then believed to have got back inside the car.
The boy, who was taken to hospital for treatment, is not believed to have been known to the dog.

It is not thought the boy was seriously injured.
Video footage shows police officers swoop on the car, with one armed officer standing guard.
Two officers are seen to be using an instrument to pull the dog from the vehicle, and into a dog unit where it was treated by specialist handlers.
Several police vans, an ambulance and specialist dog unit attended the scene of the attack which occurred shortly before 8am on Thursday morning.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "The car was suspected stolen and abandoned and the window was left insecure so the dog managed to escape the vehicle.
"The dog's owner has been contacted and enquiries remain ongoing."
