Dog stolen from house in Lesmahagow found dumped in fountain in Glasgow Green

A dog that was stolen during a break in at a house in Lesmahagow in South Lanarkshire has been found dumped in a fountain Glasgow Green.

The owner of the 8-year-old pooch put out a desperate appeal to get her back after it was taken alongside her car and some material possessions during the burglary on Wednesday night.

The bulldog was later spotted in the stolen car at various locations in Glasgow on Shettleston Road, Tollcross Road and Parkhead, before she was discovered by a member of the public without a lead on in the (empty) Doulton Fountain in front of the People's Palace last night around 10pm.

Hannah Hendrie, who works at Bold Salon on Hutcheson Street in the Merchant City, came across the bulldog after hearing it barking while out walking her own dog on the Green with her partner.

She told Glasgow Live: "I was walking through Glasgow Green with my partner and my dog and we could hear a dog barking in the direction of the fountain. We went for a closer look and found the bulldog in there without a collar on or anything, the poor wee soul.

"I had no idea it was the missing dog. I ran home and got a lead and then I put a photo of the dog on my work group chat and someone told me that she had been stolen the night before.

"I got the owner's number from the post on Lost Pets Glasgow Facebook page and sent the owner a wee message telling her I'd found her dog and left her my number.

"A short while later she called me back. She was so relieved and she was crying. She was buzzing."

Well done to Hannah for helping the owner get her pooch back!
