Dog sitter, 67, beats pets with mop handle and shouts 'shut up' in sick video

The RSPCA has launched a probe after shocking footage emerged of a dog sitter beating pets with a mop handle.

Footage showed John Walker, who works at pet care service, Mucky Pups, hitting and kicking dogs when they bark.

He even grabs a black dog by the collar, lifts it up and slaps it on the back as it whimpers and struggles to escape.

In another clip, the 67-year-old is seen beating the dogs with a four-inch-long mop handle while shouting 'bad boy' and 'shut up' at the dogs.

The video was leaked by former co-worker Chelsea Devine, who filmed it at £15-a-day Mucky Pups in Rishton, Lancashire.

Chelsea, 19, told the Sun Online .: "It's despicable what he does to those poor animals."

She reported the matter to the owner, Lauren, who is also John's daughter and claimed a dog had been left with a limp after the alleged abuse.

She claimed Lauren replied her in text messages: "Sorry you had to witness that, chick. He's a r***."

When Chelsea mentioned John smacking a dog called Rex while she was in the US, Lauren allegedly responded: "Rex doesn't listen when you smack him.

"Been there, tried that. There's load of e-collars over here. I'm going to get a few shock the b******s xxx."

Lauren, 27, told Sun Online that her father did not abuse the dogs and claimed the footage has been 'cropped'.

"Abusing them is the wrong word. Heavy-handed, correction methods, yes. In terms of my dad abusing them it’s incorrect," she said.

The RSPCA confirmed that they are investigating into the incident.

Marcelle King, of the British College of Canine Studies, watched the clip and said: "That's not dog training, that is abuse."
