Pet owners have been left terrified by a 'rampaging gang' they claim are training dogs to kill.
The residents who live in east Hull estates say 'up to six hunting dogs' are using pet cats as 'bait' for them as it's believed they are being trained for illegal lamping, hunting and hare coursing.
Tina Agius was out with her two dogs when they were attacked leaving one seriously injured, reports Hull Live.
Tina's daughter Simone, 39, said: “It was three guys who had between four and six hunting dogs.
“My mum asked them to put them on leads and they laughed at her. One of the dogs ran at my mum and her dogs, so she picked them up.”
“The dog then attacked her and knocked her to the ground to get hold of the dogs. It took one and savaged it and then tossed it into a bush before then came back to get the other dog.
"My mum was injured and couldn’t get up off the floor.”
Eventually the men got their dogs and ran off, she claims.
The 62-year-old was left with a broken finger after the attack and was unable to walk for three days.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said in a statement: “An investigation has been launched after reports that a dog and its owner were injured in an encounter with two other dogs.”
“The incident happened at 11am on Wednesday, October 21, on a cycle track in the Falkland Road area of Hull.”
“It’s reported that the victim’s dog was attacked by a lurcher-type dog walking in the opposite direction and that as she went to intervene, a second animal – also believed to be a lurcher – knocked her to the floor.”
“The victim’s dog sustained serious injuries and is still receiving treatment, whilst the woman suffered injuries to her hand and face.”

Another pet owner, Gill Myers, 51, told Hull Live her cat Weasley was 'murdered' by a group of men in December 2019.
She said: “We heard 'get it Red' and with that my cat jumped down into my garden followed by the dog - it jumped a 6ft fence to get in.
"I tried getting it off my cat, causing a big wound on my leg."
Gill rushed the cat to the vets but he passed away on route, the vet told her "there’s loads of this happening.”
