Dog seized by cops after Scots grandad has 'thumb ripped off' in alleged attack in Scots street

Police have seized a dog that allegedly bit the thumb off a Scots pensioner during a vicious attack on a West Lothian street.

The 40-year-old female owner of the XL American Bulldog-type animal has also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.

We previously told how a 72-year-old man was rushed to St John’s Hospital in Livingston by ambulance after the incident in Happy Valley Road, Blackburn, on Friday.

He has since been released after having surgery on his severed finger which could not be reattached despite being recovered at the scene by his son.

The grandad is now recovering at home with his beloved dog Domino after also sustaining broken bones in his hand and suffering bite marks on his face and legs.

His son, David Jones, said: “Dad was released on Sunday after getting his operation and Domino got out the vets on Friday with injuries to his back legs.

“The police have told us that the dog has now been seized and is in their custody. “Dad’s thumb is completely gone and he’s got stitches in his face.

“He’s also got broken bones in one hand and bites on his legs. He’s very quiet and sore.”

The pensioner was knocked to the ground during the incident which took place while he walked his own dog on Friday morning.
