Dog rescuers need short term foster carers for expected Halloween rush

Dog welfare and rescue groups are bracing themselves for a deluge of dogs found wandering after being spooked by Halloween fireworks.

In Co Down one group is asking for short term foster carers to offer their help ahead of the expected problem.

Lost And Found Pets North Down also look after rescues and rehoming.

A spokeswoman said: "It's that time of year again when due to fireworks and dogs becoming spooked, we may require some overnight care for strays found after dog wardens go off duty.

"If you would be in a position to help us out for a night this coming weekend, please send us a message to our Facebook with your contact details and some information on your situation at home.

"Ideally the home would have no young children or other pets, or at least have ability to secure them separately, because as with all stray dogs, we will have no background

"We ask that these homes are within North Down, our area of coverage."
