Dog rescued from house fire and given oxygen as crews battle Kirkcaldy blaze

A dog had to be rescued from a house fire and given oxygen this morning as fire crews continue to battle a blaze in Kirkcaldy.

Emergency services were called out to a property on Alison Street at 9.30am and remain in attendance.

No one is believed to have been injured after a blaze broke out in the kitchen.

Three fire engines are currently on the scene as fire fighters continue to battle the inferno and the road is currently closed.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said: "We are currently in attendance at a house fire on Alison Street, Kirkcaldy, after being called at 9.30am.

"The fire started in the kitchen and is believed to be in an upstairs flat.

"We are currently still tackling the fire. No one was injured but a dog was removed from the property and given oxygen.

"We have three appliances in attendance."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: "Police were made aware of a fire at a property in Alison Street, Kirkcaldy around 9.50am on Wednesday, 14 April, 2021.

"Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed."
