Dog rescued from car in Belfast city centre

Photos show the moment a dog was rescued from a 'hot' car in Belfast city centre.

A police officer smashed the window of the vehicle near Musgrave police station at around 4pm.

The animal was then pictured appearing in good health afterwards. The PSNI has been contacted for comment.

In Co Fermanagh on July 14, a dog died after it was left in a hot car.

The dog was taken to a vet but was pronounced dead afterwards.

At the time, a PSNI spokesman said: "Yesterday at approximately 2.05pm police received a call reference a dog that was in distress whilst locked in a parked car in the Wellington Road area of Enniskillen.

"The window of the vehicle was broken by a member of the public in order to retrieve the distressed animal, which was taken to a local vet, where it was pronounced dead.

"Two people are helping police with their enquiries.

"Enquiries into this incident are ongoing."
