Dog rescued after 60 miles on the run across Northern Ireland looking for new home

A local dog charity is appealing for help to find a loving family for a rescued hound-cross in Derry.

Miles, who was featured on Belfast Live in May after he strayed 60 miles in seven days and was hit by a car, has been in the care of Friends of Rescue.

Several weeks ago, the dog's escape saw him travel through eight towns, Dundrod, Lisburn, Hillsborough, Dromara, Ballynahinch, Saintfield, and Carryduff before finally being stopped in Comber.

A spokesperson for Friends of Rescue said: "Our running man is ready for his new home.

"Miles is doing his very best in foster but he is still a very nervous man, he will need time, reassurance and most of all patience.

"He would benefit from another dog(s) in the household and no young children and this is purely down to his nervousness.

"Miles will obviously need an extra secure garden so that he doesn’t try a Miles again.

"This boy will make an amazing family member. He is sweet, gentle and forgiving."
