Dog owners warned after man spotted selling pups out of car boot in Kildare

Pet owners have been warned after a man was spotted selling dogs from his car boot at a Co Kildare store.

The incident happened at the Johnstown Garden Centre in Naas yesterday.

The man was seen selling dogs out of his car with no number plates to a queue of families waiting at the store.

The warning came in the form of a Facebook post on a residents' group page.

It said: "Was just at Johnstown Garden Centre. There was a man selling dogs out of the boot of his car to a queue of waiting families.

"The car had NO Numberplate. I called security and the Guards but unfortunately, the Guards did not make it on time. PLEASE, people, wake up! No number plates!"

Residents expressed disgust at the incident with some claiming that he may have been selling stolen dogs.

One person said: "Who are the stupid clowns buying dogs from the back of a car. Are they really so stupid? Christ."

Another person said: "Why do people buy dogs like this? It's just encouraging puppy farms. Shame on the buyers!"

A third person said: "Get CCTV from the centre....could be stolen dogs."

Another person added: "Are these people zombies living in their own little world? These could be stolen dogs more than likely by the sounds of it. The mind boggles."

Dublin Live has contacted the gardai for a comment.
