Dog owners have been warned about the return of dangerous algae to the pond at Irvine Beach Park.
A sample taken this week of the pond water revealed that toxic blue green algae, which can kill livestock and dogs, waterbirds and fish, is back.
The pond was only declared free from potentially harmful algae in February after high levels were found at the pond late last summer.
Warning notices are being posted around the pond again.
The council’s dog warden service said on social media: “You should avoid contact with the water and keep your pets out of the pond for the meantime.
“Environmental Health and SEPA will continue to monitor going forward.”
