Dog owners and parents warned after brutal makeshift weapon found in Gorebridge

A Facebook user has shared his horror online after discovering a homemade weapon in the water at Gorebridge whilst walking with his wife and young nephews.

"Down Robertson bank and up to the waterfall, my youngest nephew (5) picked up this. Whoever you are to put something like this in water where kids play and dog walk you seriously need your small head looked at."

Facebook user Andy Bennett has warned dog owners and parents who may frequent the walk through the popular Gore Glen Woodland Park in Midlothian following the discovery of the wooden pole with nails and blades embedded in it.

The stick appears to have sawn to size before having the sharp objects forced into it - it's not clear why it has been modified in this way or who has left it there.

Anyone who may have information regarding the dangerous weapon is advised to contact Police Scotland on 101.
