Dog owner stunned to find missing 9st St Bernard wandering around on roof

A dog owner was stunned when his missing 9st St Bernard turned up on the roof of his mum’s house.

Kyle Barrett, 32, had noticed that one-year-old Samson had vanished, then heard clumping noises coming from above.

The IT worker went outside to find his beloved pet standing proudly on the roof, admiring the view.

Kyle was worried his “dozy” dog would fall but he managed to coax Samson down to safety.

Kyle, from Lymm, Cheshire, said: “We could hear this loud banging and realised at the same time we couldn’t find the dog.

“I was a bit surprised. It’s not every day you see a 60kg St Bernard wandering around on the roof.

"I did panic a little that he might fall off but he’s fairly sure-footed.

"I guess he wanted to have a bit of a wander."

It is thought Samson climbed up via an adjoining garage.

His climbing skills are not surprising, as for centuries St Bernards have worked as mountain rescue dogs in the Alps.
