A Wirral man has warned dog owners after his English Bull Terrier ate a piece of cake which had a spiked piece of plastic inside it.
Stephen Bradley, from Tranmere , was out walking his dog Aston in Mersey Park last Sunday when it spotted a piece of cake and ate it. Aston became ill and was later treated at the vets.
Mr Bradley, who works in factory, said that vets found a piece of plastic which had spikes inside Aston's stomach. He told the ECHO that he thinks someone put ithe plastic inside the cake 'deliberately.'

He said: "We were in the park last Sunday and Aston saw this piece of cake and just grabbed it. I was not quick enough to shop him. He ate the cake and that was it really.
"But later in the day he became unwell and clearly had an upset stomach. I took him to the vets and they told him that his stomach was full of gas. The realised there was something inside him. It turned out to be a piece of plastic with sharp ends - I am not sure what it is.
"Looking back I think that someone put the plastic inside the cake on purpose - I mean how else would it get there."

Stephen, from Tranmere, told the ECHO that he did not report the incident to the police or RSPCA. He added: "In a way I blame myself for not stopping Aston from eating the piece of cake.
"But I do want to warn other dog owners about what happened. The last time I was in the park I noticed a lot of broken glass, which is another concern for dog owners.
