Dog owner 'praying' Labrador is not harmed after he was stolen outside Glasgow shop

A Scots dog owner says he is "worried sick" after his black Labrador was stolen outside a Glasgow city centre shop at the weekend.

Stevie Douglas left dog Charlie tied up on a chain at a bus stop as he nipped into a convenience shop on Hope Street on his way home on Saturday at around 7.30pm.

But when he left the shop his beloved pet was nowhere to be seen.

Stevie has now reported Charlie missing to the police and is warning other dog owners about the upsetting situation.

Stevie told Glasgow Live: "I nipped in for a paper and a bottle of ginger, I was gone two minutes at the very most, but he was gone when I came out. No one at the bus stop would tell me anything so I was just totally lost.

"I'm worried sick, I've just been praying no one is harming him. He's such a happy wee dog, just trots alongside you, I miss him to bits.

"If I get him back I'll never let him out of my sight again."

Charlie is chipped and is believed to have been seen being walked by a man on Hope Street. The black Lab had a large, thick chain collar and lead on at the time he was taken.

Stevie added: "I was told by a couple of people who work on Hope Street that they had seen him being walked by a rough looking guy. Every bit of their description just matched my Charlie, down to the exact chain collar and lead he had on.

"The only difference was they said he was plodding next to the guy looking quite sad, which is just not like him at all. I'm just desperate for him to come home."
