Dog owner left heartbroken after thief steals car with Labrador inside

A dog owner has been left heartbroken after a thief stole her car with her pet inside.

The chocolate Labrador named Sadie was in the back of a white Ford Ecosport Titanium when a thief struck at 10.40am on Monday, August 24.

The owner went into her house in Hawton Road, Newark to pick something up, when a thief stole the car driving off in the direction of Hawton village.

Now Nottinghamshire Police is appealing to the public for the safe return of a dog.

The vehicle registration is S100 DUN and the thief is believed to be a white male.

Sergeant Mark Stacey, leading the investigation, said: "This has been a distressing incident for our victim and we are keen to reunite her with her dog as soon as possible.

"We are appealing to the public to keep their eyes peeled for the car.

"I would also urge the public to keep an eye out for the dog, which may be in the vehicle or it may have been abandoned on the street. If you see a chocolate Labrador wandering, it may belong to our victim."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 217 of 24 August 2020.
