Dog owner accused of assault on walking track

Police are asking Canberrans to help identify a man accused of assaulting a woman on a walking track on Monday, June 1.

The alleged victim was running with her dog on the western side of Mount Taylor about 9am when the man's off-lead dog approached her.

The runner asked the man to put his dog on lead when he allegedly approached her and pushed her to the ground.

ACT Policing has released an image of the man walking away after the alleged assault, in a public appeal to identify the alleged offender.

He has been described as Caucasian in appearance with facial hair, and more than six feet tall.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a hoodie and dark tracksuit pants with white stripes on the side.

Police said he was walking with two dogs, a black medium-sized dog on a lead and a white medium-sized dog off-lead.

Anyone who witnessed the incident has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting reference number 8402349.
