Dog lover shares amazing hack for keeping your chilly pup warm this winter

A dog owner has taken to a popular life hacking and bargain-hunting Facebook group to share her solution to a problem a lot of short-haired pet owners in Edinburgh have: namely, how do you keep your pup warm in winter?

Smamfa Szasz took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group to suggest using a 'cosy toes' buggy cosy - designed to keep toddlers warm in their pushchairs - as a dog sleeping bag, and says her dog absolutely loves his.

She posted a photo of her dog inside a Woolibaloo lambswool footmuff, a luxury buggy warmer that retail at around £120, so that's not exactly a bargain option. But you can pick up budget fleece lined baby cosies for around £20 from places like Mothercare.com.

She wrote: "Ok not a regular bargain....but my dog loves it!. Pushchair cosytoes as a dog sleeping bag"

Over 500 people commented on the idea, with most saying that they thought it was inspired.

One woman said: "OMG! What a fab idea. I have a puppy chihuahua who loves snuggling and never thought of using one of these. I'm off to hunt for one."

Another person added: "Perfect bed for your dog, he can choose to snuggle right inside on really cold nights well done you."

Others shared their (cheaper) options. One woman shared this photo, saying: "Mine have a sleeping bag for dogs from ebay 20quid they love it. They have a padded soft fluffy normal dog bed inside it and cuddle in lol."

You can get this doggy sleeping bag that fits two for £20 (Facebook: Stacey Campbell)
