Dog lover Ant McPartlin breaks down in tears watching BGT dog meat rescue story

Ant McPartlin could be spotted fighting back tears during Saturday's Britain's Got Talent semi-finals.

He was watching Amanda and Miracle, a dog and owner act where Amanda showcased the incredible story of how she rescued her abused pup and how he learnt to trust her.

Miracle was caged with 1,000 other dogs and headed for the dog meat trade, when Amanda rescued him.

And the gorgeous dog formed an incredible bond with Amanda's son Kyle, who has cerebal palsy and autism.

Amanda's act contained several magic tricks as she reenacted the day she met Miracle, who was represented by a puppet.

She demonstrated how at first he was terrified and did not trust humans, but through patients and perseverance she earned his trust.

At the end of the performance, the real Miracle emerged from behind a curtain and joined Amanda on stage.

Ant, who has a chocolate Labrador called Hurley who he shares with ex wife lisa Armstrong as well as two Malitpoos, and Dec, who has a sausage dog called Rocky, were won over.

The hosts greeted Miracle excitedly as Amanda laughed and said: "He just wants chicken!"

Fellow dog lover David Walliams said: "It was very moving, very beautiful.

"I must say when they first brought the dog on I didn't know it was a puppet, I thought, 'Oh my god, what's happened to Miracle!?'

"The magic was beautiful and gentle, very much part of the performance, and you told the story beautiful, and your story is very important to the success of this act."

Alesha added: "We have never had anything like that on the show before, so bravo.

"The whole thing was just really emotional, you know I am a fan of the work you do Amanda, and as David said it's super important.

"I really hope off the back of the show, people will get on to what you're doing and support it because it is so important, so well done."
