Dog lost for a year and a half reunited with Belfast family

It's a tale with a waggy ending.

Little Lola from East Belfast vanished form her home 18 months ago and after endless searches and many tears, her family feared she was gone forever.

But on Friday, July 3, they had a phone call no one had expected.

Lola was safe and ready to come home.

Her owner Gillian Bryans said: "My Lola is home after a year and a half. Yesterday was a crazy day.

"The dog warden phoned to say she was found up near the Limestone road. Thank God her microchip was still in place and not removed.

"As a family we want to say a special thanks to Tracy the dog warden who brought her home as soon as she was found.

"And also a big thank you to the family who found her, picked her off the street, fed and bathed and called the dog warden.

"We're so happy to get her back and the children are beside themselves. She was gone for so long we never thought we'd get her back and we assumed she had been lifted.

"Now she's home and in October we will celebrate her seventh birthday."

Megan Goodall rescued Lola who she spotted walking on the road in the rain in the Newington area of Belfast.

She said: "The little dog followed my mum's car and could have been out all night because she was soaking.

"We took her in, bathed her, fed her and tried to find the owner. It turned out she'd been lost for a year and a half and now she’s reunited with her family."
