A dog was left fighting for its life and in need of £2,000 surgery after she swallowed part of a bone-shaped dog toy.
Candice Sauerland, 35, bought the £1.99 'Chewable Bamboo Bone Dog Toy' for Staffordshire bull terrier Myla to enjoy.
But after playing with the toy for two days, Candice noticed half the toy was missing - and her dog was being sick.
Candice took the dog to the vets and an X-ray revealed the toy was stuck in its stomach.
She claims vets told her that if the dog had been brought in any later, she would have died.
The poorly Staffy endured a four-and-a-half-hour life-saving operation - which cost £2,000 - and thankfully pulled through.
Candice, from Nantwich, Cheshire, is now warning other dog owners of the impact the incident had on their family.
Carer Candice said: "It's been an extremely stressful time for us from the moment she got ill.
"When we heard she had to have life-saving surgery we were distraught as a family, and what was meant to only be an hour operation ended up taking over four times that long.
"That just shows the extent of damage that this disgrace of a toy did to our poor little girl.

"Thankfully. she is now on the mend, but there were times when we didn't think she'd make it.
Candice bought six-year-old Myla the dog toy on June 26. She said her pet started being sick two days later.
