Dog killed in Chapelton hit and run as police hunt Jaguar driver

Police are hunting a Jaguar driver after a dog was tragically killed in a hit and run.

The horror incident took place in the village of Chapelton, south of East Kilbride, on Friday November 20.

Pup Jerry was hit by a blue 4x4 on Glasgow Road after slipping his harness and walking onto the road. The car later came to a stop, but drove off in the direction of East Kilbride without leaving any details.

The beloved dog sadly died following the crash.

Police are now appealing to the public for any information in their search for the driver.

Lanakrshire Police Division this morning said: "About 10:15am on 20th November 2020 near to number 3 Glasgow Road, Chapleton the dog pictured below slipped his harness and walked onto the roadway.

"A few seconds later an electric blue 4x4 possibly a Jaguar was travelling at speed and struck the dog.

"The vehicle stopped further down the road and then drove off in the East Kilbride direction, failing to stop and provide details.

"The area was busy at the time with vehicles and other dog walkers however nobody else has come forward to report this.

"The dog died as a result of the incident, his name was Jerry.

"Please, if you have information regarding the incident, contact 101 quoting incident “1634 of 20/11/20".
