Dog grooming parlour and pet shop opens in Clifton - and it's looking for volunteers

An ethical pet shop and grooming parlour which gives all the money it makes to helping animals has opened in Clifton - and it’s looking for volunteers.

BARC Clifton on Portland Street is a not-for-profit shop run by Bristol Animal Rescue Centre - the city’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity.

The new store sells organic pet food and treats, and environmentally friendly toys for cats and dogs.

It also has a grooming service for dogs, including a quick treatment for pooches who have been on muddy walks.

“We stock everything your four-legged family member needs – plus one or two things for owners too,” said assistant shop manager Suzie Booton.

“Our experienced groomers cater for all ages and breeds and use only non-animal tested, cruelty-free products."

The shop is currently looking for volunteers to help out serving customers, stocking shelves and meeting visiting doggos.

“Our spacious, welcoming salon provides a calm and relaxing haven for your dog,” added Suzie.

The shop is open from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 5.30pm, and on Sunday from 11am to 3:30pm.
