Dog-friendly Shakespeare attraction set to reopen this month

A dog-friendly Shakespeare tourist attraction is set to welcome back visitors this month, after being closed due to lockdown.

And the team at Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall have been getting ready for the big day with their own dogs.

Swifty, Coco, Hattie and Ludo have been donning their period costume ruffs ready to give their best Shakespearean pawformance.

The attraction - which is in the original 16th century part of King Edward VI School where William Shakespeare spent his school years and first experienced theatre - will reopen on June 28, just three days after Bring Your Dog To Work Day on June 25.

Set in Stratford-upon-Avon, the award-winning site is a family friendly, accessible visitor attraction where dogs will be greeted with a shakespaw (get it, Shakespeare.. Shake paw?...never mind!), a bowl of water and a dog biscuit on arrival.

Lindsey Armstrong, general manager of Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall (and owner of Swifty, Coco and Ludo), said: “We’re a nation of dog lovers, so being able to visit an attraction with your faithful friend can really make your day special. We look forward to welcoming well behaved dogs with visitors when we reopen at the end of June.”

Advance tickets can be booked here, with entry prices costing £10 for adults, £8 for concessions, children aged five to 16 cost £6.50 and under fives go free.

Opening hours are 11am to 5pm, seven days a week from Monday 28 June.
