You don't have to leave your best friend at home if you want to enjoy a coffee or lunch out the house.
While many cafes and bars don't allow dogs in, there are those who are more accommodating to our four-legged friends, and even eateries where canines are encouraged.
Which means you don't have to fib to your whining pet and pretend you are literally going to be gone for 'five minutes' when you set off for a lunch out. Instead, whip out the lead and watch their face melt with joy.
We've picked a selection of cafes and lunch spots in Newcastle or close to the city which are dog-friendly.
