Dog food urgently recalled amid salmonella risk

A warning has been issued to dog owners who have purchased certain pet food products from their local supermarket.

According to Kent Live, traces of salmonella were found in frozen raw products from the brand Happy Hounds.

Point of sale notices will be put up in all stores which stock the items, explaining to customers what they need to do if they have purchased the pet food.

Customers will be issued with a full refund after returning the products.

Anyone who comes in contact with the food, either directly or indirectly, could be at risk of becoming ill.

This means that you don't have to consume the dog food to fall ill, simply handling feeding bowls or utensils that have touched the product could put you at risk.

Coming in contact with the faeces of the animals who have consumed the product also carries a salmonella risk.

Infected animals might not display signs of illness or poisoning, but are likely to have diarrhoea.
