The owners of two Staffordshire Bull Terriers who mauled another dog to death whilst 'running loose' in a park are to be interviewed by police.
Officers were alerted after members of the public spotted the Staffies savagely attacking someone's pet at Lyme Valley Parkway in Newcastle-under-Lyme, north Staffordshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 19.
The owners of the staffies were nowhere to be seen during the incident just after 6:30am it is believed and they were safely detained by officers.
They have now confirmed the other dog died as a result of its horrific injuries.
The owners of the Staffies were later traced and they are set to be interviewed it has been confirmed.
Now Staffordshire Police are asking any witnesses to come forward, Stoke-On-Trent Live reports.

It is believed one of the Staffies was brindle, while the other was black and white.
A spokesman said: "We were called to a report of a dog being attacked by two other dogs on Lyme Valley Park at around 6.35am on Sunday, May 19.
"The dog sadly died as a result of its injuries and the other two dogs were safely detained.
"Officers have identified the owners of the two dogs and will be voluntarily interviewing them in due course.

"Anyone with information about the incident is asked to get in touch."
One woman said: "They were running loose in Lyme Valley and police were trying to find the owner after an incident there."
