Dog DLA Afternoon is set to hit the Baby Grand Studio in October
The farce-comedy written by Stephen Large is due to run at the Baby Grand Studio from October 21 to November 2.
Loosely based on the 1975 Al Pacino movie 'Doy Day Afternoon', Large's story focuses on a bank job that's gone wrong, leading to the three perpetrators affiliated with the Dundonald Liberation Army (DLA) accidentally robbing a food bank.
The play's botched bank job follows the annexation of Dundonald by Lisburn City Council in 2015, ending Castlereagh’s long-established sovereignty.
The stars of the show, Dave ‘The Venezuelan’ Taylor and John ‘Crazy Horse’ McCracken of the Dundonald Liberation Army are aiming to build funds for their cause and show they mean business.
Writer Stephen Large told Belfast Live that Dog DLA Afternoon does a lot in "lampooning the situation here in Northern Ireland."
The incompetent nature of the fictitious paramilitary group the DLA and their failed bank robbery are parallels to the 2004 Northern Bank Robbery in Belfast, for example.
The play is also set to tackle issues that "you would see all over Facebook", according to Large. Topics that are ongoing in Northern Ireland such as Same-Sex Marriage are set to feature throughout the play.
Dog DLA Afternoon will consist of four cast members in the intimate setting of the Baby Grand Studio at the Grand Opera House.
