Horror crash between HGV and van in Ayrshire leaves driver seriously injured

Police are appealing for witnesses after a horror crash between a van and an HGV.

The incident took place around 9.30am on Friday October 15 on Ladywell Avenue, Girvan, near to the junction with the B741.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious injuries while his dog, who was also in the van, was also injured.

The driver's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police in Ayrshire are appealing for information and witnesses.

Sergeant Craig Beaver said: “We’re aware there were a number of other vehicles in the area around the time of the crash, so are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

"We are also keen to speak with any motorists with potential dashcam footage.

“Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 0762 of 15 October.”

*An earlier version of this story said that the dog had been killed - as police originally believed - however officers have subsequently stated that it survived.
