Dog could have been 'seriously harmed' after picking up glass coated in chocolate at Midlothian park

A dog could have been "seriously harmed" after picking up a shard of glass covered in chocolate at a Midlothian park.

The alarming incident happened at Mayfield Park near Dalkeith on Friday morning.

Midlothian Council posted an image of the discovery on social media, while warning parents and pet owners to be aware of the danger.

They said: "Please note that glass coated in chocolate was found at Mayfield Park today and was picked up by a dog that could have been seriously harmed.

"Although the glass near the play area has now been cleared up, we are asking parents, children and dog owners to be aware."
