Dog beds for humans to sleep in launched by new business

A new business is being launched specialising in making dog beds - for humans rather than canines. Friends Yuki Kinoshita and Noah Silverman, both 21, decided to set up the venture after finding they enjoyed lounging in their local café with a Great Dane called Lady.

While in their final year at university the pair got to work designing their human-sized dog beds and are now getting ready to launch their products through Kickstarter. The Plufl costs £228, is 190cm in length and is big enough for two people to enjoy a snuggle.

It comes after Loose Women presenter Stacey Solomon bought her son Rex his own dog bed, after he kept stealing and curling up in the one meant for their pet.

Noah, originally from Seattle, Washington, US, said: "I don't know why we didn't think of it sooner. We've had so many people messaging saying they've slept in a dog bed for years.

"One guy has already ditched his bed ready for his Plufl to arrive. We were spending a lot of time lounging around with Lady and I just thought how comfy her bed was."

Yuki, originally from Washington DC, US, said: "It's a massive dog bed for humans what is not to love. We've tried and tested them, and you get a great nap."

Noah and Yuki are on the international economic programme at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Yuki said they would lie down with Lady on her "massive bed" and found it "so comfy", adding: "I just suddenly thought why is there not a dog bed for humans?"

Noah said: "The best way to lie in them is the foetal position. I'm now having great naps in them between studying sessions."

But they're not just suitable for napping, they have emphasised. "People can read in one, do a bit of work in them," Yuki said. "We don't want them to be just for napping."

Yuki continued: So many people are so excited for them, I think they can see how comfy they look from the photos. It's been great working with Noah on this and we can't wait to launch it and share Plufl far and wide."
